11 January 2023The first`Days MESSH’ constitute an international and interdisciplinary scientific event devoted to the `Mathematics for bio-Economics and Sustainability of fiSHeries‘.
It will be held on January 2023 in Sète at UMR MARBEC.
The event is part of a project entitled MESSH mainly supported by the IMPT (Institut des Mathématiques de la Planète Terre), the CNRS , the RMA (Resource Modeling Association) and CEE-M. The content of these 3 Days `MESSH’ in Sète is between a Symposium and a School with keynote lectures planned on every morning.

Reconciling food security, economic development and biodiversity conservation facing global changes is a key challenge for fisheries worldwide. There is a need of quantitative methods, models and scenarios to support policies addressing this bio-economic challenge. Thus, the 3 Days MESSH aims at advancing the development of models and scenarios for the sustainable management of fisheries and marine ecosystems. In particular, the meeting will focus on four research axis: (i) the mathematics of ecosystem-based fisheries management; (ii) the mathematics of sustainability; (iii) the mathematics of resilience; (iv) the mathematics of governance. Thus, the methodology will draw on both dynamic systems theory, the control of systems, game theory and stochastic approaches.
