The Centre for Environmental Economics of Montpellier (CEE-M) is a joint research unit in economics created on January 1, 2018. The four research institutions supervising the CEE-M are the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS -UMR 4818), the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE -UMR 1135), The French National Institute of Higher Education in Agricultural Sciences – Montpellier (Montpellier SupAgro) and the University of Montpellier.
The management team of CEE-M is composed of one Director, Fabien Prieur (University of Montpellier), and two Deputy Directors, Dimitri Dubois (CNRS) and Raphaël Soubeyran (INRAE).
The CEE-M research project lies at the interface between society and the environment. Adopting an interdisciplinary perspective, it aims to address two scientific challenges: the transition towards an environmentally respectful society and the promotion of innovative and multifunctional agriculture.
RESEARCH
The research activities revolve around four thematic areas as described below. Research works include theory, empirical investigation and experimentation, drawing on interdisciplinary collaborations in ecology, phytopathology, psychology, etc. Another objective is to provide research- based recommendations to public authorities to address current environmental challenges.
The four thematic areas of CEE-M are:
Biodiversity, water, soils: how to promote effective and sustainable management of natural resources and the environment?
Conflicts over resource use, biodiversity, climate: how to design governance that meets equity and efficiency objectives?
Promoting ecologically innovative agriculture: how to define and design appropriate agro-environmental policies?
Climate change and major ecological disturbances: how to manage environmental risks?
The Montpellier Laboratory of Experimental Economics (LEEM)
CEE-M benefits from an infrastructure to conduct laboratory experiments, the Montpellier Laboratory of Experimental Economics (LEEM), located on the Richter campus (Faculty of Economics, Montpellier).
